For those who think men and women are equally as abusive and violent in relationships, try this imagination experiment:
Imagine a world where there is no women’s violence: no women killing men; no women raping and sexually abusing men; no women stabbing, shooting, strangling, stalking, men.
How different would our world be?
I guess there would be a little difference to our present world – Maybe. Maybe, a small percentage of the highest risk and long-term male perpetrators might live to perpetrate another day.
But now, imagine, if you will, a world where there is no men’s violence: no men killing women, children, and other men; no men raping and sexually abusing women, children, and other men; no men stabbing, shooting, strangling, and stalking women, children and other men.
OMG, we would be living in a completely different world, approximating a paradise of peace and safety and freedom. Imagine how the rates of fatalities would decrease; how low human-caused trauma would be; how homes would become havens; women would be free to live their best lives and be their best selves; children could grow up securely attached to parents/care-givers, safely and healthily.
All it would take is for men to relinquish their violence; to surrender their coercive control; choose respect over abuse; accept no for an answer occasionally without trauma-inducing tantrums; to accept women as human persons, not property, who are different but equal to them; to treat women as subjects, not objects; to take on a level of responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of those they love; to give up selfishness and self-centredness; to love instead of use; to live their best lives and be their best selves. Is this imagining, fantasizing, dreaming, hoping, or delusional?
